What's your theological worldview?

You scored as Emergent/Postmodern, You are Emergent/Postmodern in your theology. You feel alienated from older forms of church, you don't think they connect to modern culture very well. No one knows the whole truth about God, and we have much to learn from each other, and so learning takes place in dialogue. Evangelism should take place in relationships rather than through crusades and altar-calls. People are interested in spirituality and want to ask questions, so the church should help them to do this.

I took this test over a year ago... the results are interesting.

I am glad to see I am losing my fundamentalist viewpoint... maybe I can thank them for showing me the error of my ways! ; ) I do think that my "Charismatic/Pentecostal" score a bit low.

I'd wish people stopped using the word postmodern as an indicator of anything other than crypto Marxism. It lends credibility to a very pernicious branch of Leftism that is certainly no friend of Christianity and is out to destroy anything related to what I term The White Patriarch: the dominance of the archetypal white, powerful, rich, Christian, male culture. I hope you realize this is an effort to destroy Christianity from within.
God bless,

cassandra,

there is a lot to unpack there that you wrote.

1. There is no grand crypto Marxist conspiracy to end destroy Christianity. i for one have more faith in God.

2. No one uses the term "postmodern" in the sense that this is called the "post modern" age. In that we are all postmodern including yourself.

3. The use of the term itself even in house with "emerging" is that it is often more confusing that useful as a description so we actually rarely use it other than to use a few of its "tools"

4. We use those tools which are useful to show where Christianity has been infused by modernism in which people state the same thing you have here, yet has seemed to have been accepted and has done a lot of damage.

5. Neither PM or Modernity in their pure form are good or "Christian". We are fully aware of this.

6. I think that your description: "The White Patriarch: the dominance of the archetypal white, powerful, rich, Christian, male culture" is rather disturbing on many levels... but mostly as Anthony Smith whose blog Musings of a Postmodern Negro would take great offense to you assertion that this is just "white", and my friend Grace at emerging Grace would take offense it is just male, and I will note i am neither powerful nor rich... nor are many of my friends. I do admit that this "movement" (for lack of a better word) is mostly "white" but that does not mean that being mostly white equates being racist... that is a logical leap and seems to incriminate people who really see the concept of racism as sick and not Christian at all.

It seems that you are truly into labels and putting people into categories and boxes rather than to see people as people and engage in conversations without some sort of conspiracy or secret threat. This seems to run rampant in certain streams of Christianity.

Truly I am not really sure what to make out of you comment... other that I have a vague memory that you have commented almost like this before.

If you just "name calling" believe me I have been called much worse that this.

Blessings,
iggy

Look, I'm not into name calling (I'm not a Lib). I'm also not into labelling. Neither do I have the time to go into it. But this is serious. Postmodernism is very pernicious and has beginnings and has principles, which are in direct opposition to Christianity and other 'truths'. It holds for starters that there is to truth or reality. I suggest you read this article for better understanding, or get in touch with Greg Koukl of Stand to Reason (http://www.str.org/site/PageServer). Greg is a Christian philosopher who can explain the ins and outs of relativism, or subjectivism, or postmodernism, very well indeed. Here's my article: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dd3hp4ff_0fn7zfh
and here's a link to a lecture by Koukl: http://www.brainshavings.com/2007/05/moral_relativism_selfdestructs.html.

Again, so is modernism at it's core, but you use the tools of modernity every day... so does Greg Koukl.

Also, I think that you must not have read what I posted back to you.

Most people I know who are o fthe emerging persuasion do not call themselves "postmodern" yet you miss that you yourself are living in the postmodern age and are by default a postmodern... now you may not think like one, yet there are many who do. Emerging/Emergent are people who want to reach those people with Jesus. What you are saying is what we are also fighting against but we are using their language and tools to speak to them so they can understand.

There is a ton of misinformation about emerging/emergent so i would be careful who you talk to as most seem to make things up... like we do not believe in Truth... that is a flat our lie they say about us and that is just one of hundreds I have encountered.

In a way we are doing the same thing... I am just living out the incarnation in a missional manner in which i build relationships with people and lead them to Christ... You would say "i am witnessing to people to lead them to Christ"... so bottom line we are doing mostly the same thing slight twists that a missionary would use as he engages the culture he is reaching for Christ.

So, again, do not believe everything you hear or read about us... most of the negative things are fabricated lies.

Be Blessed,
