Man, you gotta hear this.... here are some things to look for.
1. Johnny Mac claims Jesus was pro war.
2. Johnny Mac flounders around in his answers or sounds like some sort of drone.
3. Ironically a charismatic (Bob Jones) comes to Johnny Mac's defense! (UPDATE Oct 17/o7: oops! Wrong Bob Jones, this one is the Founder of BJU and is not a Charismatic)
4. This is the worst exegeses of scripture I have ever heard... from Johnny Mac.
5. Johnny Mac claims again that Kingdom of God is only spiritual...
6. When another pastor brings up that Jesus, teaching on the Kingdom taught "blessed are the peacemakers" Johnny refutes him!
It seems that Johnny really can justify and claim the bible teaches anything... he does it right there on Larry King.
Just in case the player does not work here... here is the link to see it on youtube.

Wow! I always thought much of his theology was outside historic/orthodox christianity, but this gets the bait. Some people still listen him to every Sunday.
Of course, nothing against the man, I just can not help but to shake my head in disgust.
JP,
Much of his writings are very orthodox, yet in his practice I find that he is very anti orthodox... meaning when he and his crew want to justify their actions, they have no problem in twisting scripture to fit their agenda... thus we now have "truth wars" where JM and crew are defending the (their version) of truth against caricatures and straw-men... and using lies, slander, and deception as tools to defend that "so called " truth...
My biggest issue that they content people like me do not believe in truth... and are relativists... yet I have on this blog over 280 out of 622 posts on and about "truth"... and I defend the biblical definition over the philosophical and man made ideals... truth is not a "abstract object that never changes" it is the Person of Jesus Christ! Yet, they claim I do not beleive in truth because i deny giving Hegel, Plato, and Gottlob Frege and beleive in what the bible states as truth...
from what I have found MacArthur states it in the video, "There are people who use the bible to try to prove everything"... and he should know he did it in this interview!

Iggy,
It seems to me that you are taking John's comments from the Larry King show where John only has a few seconds to say something - answering a question or giving a quick sound bite and then attempt to rip him apart. Does that seem fair or logical to you? It seems a bit unfair to me.
You said that John said "Jesus is pro war" Not only are you being unfair in your judgement of John, but you are not even quoting him correctly. John said, "He endorsed protection and just war"
You also said, "Johnny Mac flounders around in his answers or sounds like some sort of drone" Doesn't sound like a helpful comment. What are you trying to accomplish? Is this demonstrating the love of Christ? You must be better than John MacArthur huh? Were you ever on Larry King?
You said, "This is the worst exegeses of scripture I have ever heard... from Johnny Mac." First, it is spelled exegesis. Secondly, I would not call this an exegesis.
You said, "Johnny Mac claims again that Kingdom of God is only spiritual" No he doesn't! He quotes Christ Himself - John 18:36 You are misrepresenting what John says and grossly at that. He quotes Christ - so, I guess you are disagreeing with Christ!
And lastly you said, "When another pastor brings up that Jesus, teaching on the Kingdom taught "blessed are the peacemakers" Johnny refutes him!" Again, misrepresentation here. John is not refuting that. He is still on the topic of whether of not Christ condoned war or not. Context is very important - not only in television interviews, but Scripture as well. I suggest you consider context carefully. Also, if you claim to be a Christian, tone certainly should be considered in your comments and personal attacks. Attack theology, with context and complete understanding of one's views prior to public posting. Ask yourself what you are trying to accomplish. Also, pray about it! Thanks for your time.
