Resurrection: How Great a Thing!

Luke 14: 12 Then Jesus said to his host, "When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. 13 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

How great a thing that Christ Rose from the dead. What a great ministry we have been given to reconcile all to Him. All that were mentioned in these verses were declared as unclean by man, yet by the death and resurrection of Jesus, we find them made clean. They have been made clean by the blood and now need be told that they can have Life in the Son.

Praise God for His Mercy and Grace. May the Passion of Christ rest on us all who claim His Name and drive us to do the Works of God we were created for.

Here is a great quote from N. T. Wright as we meditate on Resurrection and what it means.

But we are here today, on Sunday, the resurrection day, to celebrate and proclaim to the world the fact that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead. We live by this truth and we shall die by this truth. We comfort each other by this truth and we are stirred to love and devotion and service by this truth. Let us therefore settle it in our minds and hearts that we will allow the truth of the resurrection to propel us to be true revolutionaries. Not the cheap and easy kind of revolutionary, those who want to use violence to overthrow the present order and simply turn it upside down and replace it with one of their own. No, we’ve had plenty of those and it doesn’t work. No, we are like Jesus and, in his love and power to be double revolutionaries, celebrating his victory over death and sin, and finding through prayer and politics and Bible study and campaigning and love and fellowship and celebration and truth — finding the way to bring that victory to birth, both in the dark corners of our own private and personal lives and in the dark corners of God’s suffering world.

Be blessed this Resurrection Day!

Thanks for visiting my blog. I am always intrigued by how we find each other. What's the back story here?

I note that you are an emergent: can you tell me why the religious right reserve their worst vitriol for you guys?

A blessed Easter to you.

Doorman-Priest,

I personally think it is becuase of fear and the idea that everyone needs an enemy.

In a way we are the new Catholic/Liberals.

To me there is mostly a gross misunderstanding of what being emerging/emergent is. It has always been a conversation to me, so funny thing is, as a religious right person (though many like myself are conservative by political standards) are engaged in the conversation thus are... emerging...

I also see a direct relationship to the original Reformation and this in a sense being a new reformation. For many of us, we looked around and saw that as in the case of the "religious right" there is so much Americanization/politicalization and many other "-ations" that taint true Christianity... almost to the point that some do not like to call themselves "Christians" as it seems to have lost its meaning in this culture.

Of course there is much more... but go out and meet a few of us and find each of us is a person and each of us in unique. Not all even see it as I do so don't just take word as "how it is" because I. Todyaso... (yep that is really me) = )

Be blessed,
iggy

One of my good friends on the course I am on is from a New Expressions church, so I am hearing and learning from him. He is very sound.

Your explanation makes perfect sense, its just that I have been quite shocked by some of the awful things I have seen posted by so-called Christians about the Emergent movement. Quite wicked comments from those who should know better.
